JENYA BOBKOVA
GÖTEBORG, SWEDEN
Jenya is originally an architect and urbanist, but her master’s degree in architecture had a strong focus on art and methods of visual representation including academic drawing, painting, sculpture and model-making. Having established a career in architecture and academic research, Jenya has discovered the need to move on from formal research to pure art exploration where she can see printmaking as an instrument to investigate the realm of subconscious and illogical due to its unpredictability and the lack of full artistic control.

2012-2014 Delft University of Technology, NL, postgraduate master in urbanism.

ARTIST VOICE
As an architect, I am deeply involved in the concepts of space and scale, and how they shape the relation between physical objects in the form of still life and between humans and the surrounding world, also across time.
My memories are the main source of my inspiration, and I work in various hand-printing techniques, including stencil prints or hand-made print forms and monotype, since in my opinion they reflect the nature of memory inconstancy and changefulness.
