KRISTINA VALENKOVA
LIVES AND WORKS IN BELGRAD, SERBIA
As a graphic artist, I have extensive experience working with printmaking techniques. Monotype is my preferred method: I am drawn to the tactile nature of the process and the ability to make each print a unique piece of storytelling. My works often depict empty, uninhabited interiors, deserted landscapes, and still lifes that resemble isolated, intermediate frames from a film.

ARTIST VOICE
One of the important themes for me is the perception of the material world through the creation of a new visual nature. My method of graphic embodiment of this idea is the hyperbolized depiction of objects and spaces, spiritualizing routine things and phenomena.
The monotype technique itself allows for the creation of the necessary depth and effect, similar to a cinematic filter, encapsulating a frozen moment in time on the flat surface of the paper.
In my works you can often find deserted landscapes, uninhabited interiors, and still lifes that, at first glance, may seem simple and even devoid of content. The essence of my method lies in capturing the quiet and often overlooked beauty of the ordinary and the silent. By focusing on these elements, I create opportunities for contemplation and introspection. Thus, empty landscapes, interiors, or surfaces with objects arranged on them, reminiscent of still lifes, are not just barren lands or abandoned places, but spaces filled with the potential for stories and memories, solitude, and reflection.
